Isabel was born and raised in Mexico, her mother is French so she traveled to France at an early age and therefore grew up in a mixture of cultures and languages. Together with her family she visited museums, churches, galleries and ancient ruins most Sundays throughout her childhood. From this Isabel developed her love for ancient civilizations from around the world.
In 2006 when visiting Mexico with her husband Isabel found herself looking at the Aztec and Mayan civilizations in a new way. She felt the need to bring back and share some of the beauty, and believes of those now gone. Her husband Edward gave her the idea to do it through painting. With his encouragement and teaching Isabel took a brush for the first time in her life four years ago and began to paint. She chose oil paint and wood panels which allows her to work both on a table top or an easel and the adventure took off.
In the series “Sunset of a Civilization” her paintings aspire to bring back the myths, legends, and everyday life, but they also portraits the sadness of the loss of great civilizations. Most of the paintings come with the story, legend or myth that they represent.
She has always enjoyed the sun; even more when she moved to Oregon as the sun is not seen as often as in Mexico. Now she has the sun through her “Sunrises and Sunsets” series even in rainy days, she likes to share the wonderful feelings that comes as she stands in awe of a Sunrise or Sunset, and the hope the Sun brings for a new day and a better tomorrow.
In the new series “Places of Sanctuary”, Isabel portraits beautiful haciendas, churches, patios and more where you can travel into the painting and fine sanctuary from everyday life. “Imagination and the World” and “La petit Collection” are arising and growing as Isabel keeps growing on this new found passion of sharing with the world through her paintings.
